The Barber Lounge turns 2!
The gay-owned and operated Barber Lounge held its Second Annual Anniversary/Art Event, recently. Owner Greg Griffin hosted the celebration that drew a crowd of 400, including Antoine of A-List Martini Night fame; Suppositori Spelling, Whinny Bago and Reba; John Weaver, Brendan Wittlinger of Versace, Dennis Senovich, John Bradfield, Russell Gray, Anthony Garcia; and porn stars Steve Cruz and Riley Burke.
DJ Jeff Stallings gave good groves, as Blue Angel Vodka, Jet Set, X Winery and ICHI provided sushi and cocktails.
The party showcased original artwork by 12 of San Francisco's brightest young artists. Their art will be on display for four months at the Barber Lounge. The artists are Yvette Buigues, Manny Fabregas, Georgianne Fastaia, Madeleine Fitzpatrick, Anthony Garcia, Serge Gay Jr, Matt Howse, Christophe Piallat, Frank Pietronigro, Kelly Tunstall, Jim Winters and Crystal Rainwater, Pietronigro did a live demo, where he photographed guests, then on-site, converted images into acrylic paintings.
The Barber Lounge - located at 854 Folsom Street - was voted "Best Massage" and "Best Manicure and Pedicure" of 2008 in San Francisco Weekly's annual Readers Poll. It is a full service salon and spa loft, where lesbians sit in the barber chairs, and gay men get their blowouts.
