San Francisco based clothing line, Chan.nel Karama Ltd., conducted a fashion event like no other in the San Francisco Bay Area at the Barber Lounge July 16th, 2010.
LaToya C. Skinner, Designer/Owner of Chan.nel Karama Ltd said "I want to say THANK YOU to the Barber Lounge for opening up your place of business for my event. It was indeed a success and I've been hearing nothing but great things about all aspects of the event. Your team was inventive yet professional and executed all looks with precision. Words can't express how much I am indebted to the Barber Lounge for your hospitality and creative genius. Greg should be proud of the team he has assembled and I would love to work with the Barber Lounge in the future."
Chan.nel Karama Ltd. presented their A/W 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection and Swimwear 2010 with an event called Kre8 (pronounced Create): Pure Imagination.
Kre8 draws upon an inventive theatrical theme to construct an experience for the patrons in attendance by providing a viewing of the latest Couture and Ready-To-Wear collections for Chan.nel Karama Ltd. The purpose of this event was to promote creativity and entrepreneurial growth through networking with peers in all genres of creative/media arts and prominent fashion industry professionals.
Partners in this event included (but were not limited to) the Barber Lounge, L. Johnson Event Planning, Chinaka Hoshi Unlimited, thefreshstock.com, Bay Area Makeup Artist Magazine, LuLu's Vintage, Hosting In Heels (event hosts and caterers).
An Evening of Luxury 06/22/2010
- Dr. Scott Moser, M.D.
The Barber Lounge recently hosted "An Evening of Luxury" for Dr. Scott Moser's clients. Dr. Moser is one of San Francisco's top plastic and cosmedic surgeons and an expert in procedures including breast augmentations, tummy tucks, liposuction, Botox, face lifts, and other cosmedic surgeries. The Barber Lounge offered special express services for the nearly 200 guests in attendance including express shaves, dry cuts, blowout/mini-styling, chair massage, facial waxing, polish changes and nail buffs. There were also raffle items for several packages/services from the Barber Lounge ranging between $100 and $300 in value and treatments from Dr. Moser ranging between $120 and $1200 value.
Buzz Off - CMCC Fundraiser 05/08/2010
The Barber Lounge and City Model Management joined forces to bring San Francisco a brand new event called BuzzOff. The main attraction at this fundraising party were the brave "Buzzees" who pledged to have their heads buzzed live in order to both show solidarity and raise money for the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic (CMCC). Those Buzzees with longer hair donated their locks to Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for children with cancer.
CCMC is an Oakland-based complementary clinic that provides alternative medicine treatments for low-income women suffering with breast cancer. The BL staff offered complimentary services.
"Cancer has had such a huge impact in my life and so many people I care about," says Greg Griffin, Owner of the Barber Lounge. "This event is just one way we can support those who are bravely waging the fight of their lives."
Food and beverages were provided by Harmony Cellars Winery, Pretty Smith Winery, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Trumer Pils Brewery and Kombucha Tea Company and Crave Bakery.
Taboo 04/21/2010
"Phenomenal, amazing and epic are only a few of the words to describe my experience in working with the Barber Lounge for 'Taboo'," said Kimberly A. Ross, CEO of 3 Sixty Fashion Group, Designer for K. Antoinette Collection and Creator to Taboo.
This exclusive event was held at, and sponsored by, the Barber Lounge. The evening celebrated San Francisco's best and brightest designers, stylists and photographers. The event featured a Runway Show and Sample Sale with Lingerie & Swimwear Brand and K. Antoinette Collection™, designed by Ross.
Ross continued, "From the creative brainstorming sessions, to the enthusiasm and professionalism of the stylists and makeup artists; everything was flawless and in sync with my production. The hair and makeup took my swimwear and lingerie collection to a level way beyond my expectations. I look forward to many future collaborations with The Barber Lounge."
The Economics of Art 02/11/2010
"The Economics of Art" forum was a benefit show on February 11, 2010, for San Francisco Fashion Week.
Primarily, the runway portion of the event was intended as a trial run for the hairstylists, makeup artists, interns, designers and models who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The event at The Barber Lounge increased support from the local community and helped San Francisco Fashion And Merchants Alliance, Inc. to materialize the goals of their projected fashion show production.
The organization's mission is to provide an open dialogue, to engage in a forum which discusses ideas about the economics of art. The series is focused on examining how to develop innovative solutions that address the impact of the nation's financial crisis on creative industries.
"I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to you all for a successful event," said Owen Geronimo, SFFAMA, Inc's Founder. "I could have not done it without the dedicated team at The Barber Lounge. A MILLION THANKS!"

Haiti Relief Party 02/28/2010
Guests enjoyed a 25 minute service of their choice - a dry cut, a chair massage, a facial waxing service, a quick cleanse facial, or a manicure. All proceeds went directly to Haiti Relief to benefit those affected by the earthquake. Clothing and shoes were also brought for donation.
A 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti and decimated buildings and infrastructure across the country. Over $2 billion dollars were raised in six months for Haiti relief, but the reconstruction will take years and organizations in Haiti continue to need funding. If you haven't contr ibuted in a few weeks or months, please consider making another donation through one of the groups found through the link below.
